(Wheeling, WV) Wheeling Symphony Youth Orchestra (WSYO) announces its annual fall concert, featuring both the Sinfonietta and the Philharmonic orchestras. The performance will be held Tuesday, November 28 at 7:00 pm at Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church, Wheeling, WV.  This concert is free and open to the public.

The Sinfonietta, composed of our middle school aged students, will perform Chorus of the Huntsman by Weber; Serenity by Leib; and Sweet Child of Mine by Guns N’ Roses, all arranged by Rayce Leib, conductor of the Sinfonietta.  “It’s always great to work with a wide range of students, instrumentation and genre,” says Mr. Leib.  “The growth and progress the students make for only having an hour a week practice is outstanding. I can’t wait to share their hard work with you!”

The Philharmonic orchestra, which features high school and college students, will play Glinka’s “Overture” to Ruslan and Lyudmila; “Allegretto Grazioso,” the third movement of Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8; and “This Is Halloween” from Disney and Tim Burton’s hit film The Nightmare before Christmas.  Ben Podolski, conductor of the Philharmonic, praises the students’ performance. “It’s been a fantastic first semester with the strings,” says Mr. Podolski.  “We’ve learned a lot and we’ve had a good time.  We hope that shines through in this performance.”

The concert is free, but donations are appreciated to help the Wheeling Symphony Youth Orchestra continue its tradition of providing a tuition free opportunity for its members and to enable them to perform free concerts to the public each year.  For more information about the Wheeling Symphony Youth Orchestra, please visit wheelingsymphony.com.
