“I am thrilled to be returning to Wheeling to conduct the Wheeling Symphony and their Symphony On Ice concert,” says Music Director Finalist and conductor, Roger Kalia. “The holidays are about joy, reflection, and celebration, which is what this concert is all about. Highlights of the concert include traditional carols, including a holiday sing-along, specifically arranged for the Wheeling Symphony by the arranger Gary Fry, music from the classic movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” by Dimitri Tiomkin, and selections from Duke Ellington’s jazzy arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker.” I had such an amazing time working with the orchestra and meeting people this past summer in Wheeling for our Fourth of July concert in the blazing heat, and I’m looking forward to cooling off with Symphony on Ice!”
