(Wheeling, WV) Wheeling Symphony Orchestra announces its annual Labor Day program, Music Under the Stars, featuring soprano, Bridgette Gan, conducted by John Devlin. The program will be live on My OV and streaming on WTRF.com on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at 7:30 pm.

The Wheeling Symphony Orchestra is going LIVE on TV for Music Under the Stars with special guest Bridgette Gan. Music Director John Devlin and the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra will perform an incredible line-up of Disney, Broadway, Patriotic and Classical favorites. Watch the concert safely from your home on My OV or on WTRF.com or enjoy the music from your favorite social distanced location throughout Oglebay Park.

“The Wheeling Symphony Orchestra is so happy to be able to once again bring its musicians together to make live music, starting with the annual Music Under the Stars celebration,” says music director John Devlin. “Although this year’s version will look a little different, for all of us at the WSO, it is a return to our most important mission: to bring meaningful music to the city of Wheeling. I look forward to the concert, and to introducing the fantastic soprano, Bridgette Gan, to you. The music will be a mix of patriotic standards, stage and screen favorites and some of your favorite classical tunes. Make sure you join us!”

Praised by the Washington Post for her “gorgeous singing,” soprano Bridgette Gan is quickly establishing herself as a vibrant interpreter in the musical realms of opera, concert and crossover works. Recently, she has appeared as Marie in La fille du regiment, the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro, as Sharon in Terrence McNally’s Masterclass and the soprano soloist in Leroy Robertson’s Oratorio from the Book of Mormon. In concert, she was featured in an innovative Lecture-Recital series, Crossing Genres, at the Mayo Concert Hall at The College of New Jersey, and appeared as a guest soloist with her husband Scott Johnson in the third iteration of their signature Let’s Duet concert series for the VOICES Chorale 2019 Cabaret. In addition to her active performing career, Bridgette also maintains an active voice studio based in Central NJ and is an accomplished Fitness Instructor, holding certifications in Zumba, STRONG by Zumba and AFFA.

Music Under the Stars has been a Labor Day tradition for thousands of area residents and has provided annual support for the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra.  While the WSO will be performing without an audience, they will be asking for donations through a Virtual Bucket Brigade.

“People who attend our annual Music Under the Stars concert at Oglebay are familiar with our “Bucket Brigade” of volunteers who wander the amphitheater and hillside collecting donations from our audience members,” says WSO Interim Executive Director Betsy Delk. “This year, we are taking to the airwaves with a “Virtual Bucket Brigade” so that our Wheeling Symphony fans can still support us with a donation during the concert.  You can call the office at 304-232-6191 or visit us online at wheelingsymphony.com to make a donation.”

In addition to the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra’s performance, musicians from the Wheeling Symphony Youth Orchestra will perform during the intermission.

Audiences may come to Oglebay Park earlier in the day to take advantage of their Labor Day activities. While the symphony will be performing at Oglebay’s Anne Kuchinka Amphitheater, due to COVID-19 mandates, seating will not be available at this venue. For more information about Oglebay’s events, visit Oglebay.com
