(Wheeling, WV) Wheeling Symphony Orchestra (WSO) announces a WSO on the GO event, featuring food trucks, a meet-and-greet with music director finalist candidate, Timothy Hankewich, and a performance from the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra woodwind quintet.  The event is presented in coordination with The Health Plan and starts at 11:30 am at The Health Plan’s outdoor amphitheater in Wheeling, WV on Wednesday, October 17.  It is free and open to the public.

Lunchtime in Downtown Wheeling has never been better.  Starting at 11:30 am, visit The Health Plan outdoor amphitheater where local food truck favorites, Wood Fired Pizza Company and Ideal Provisions, will be on site with food available for purchase.  At 11:45 am, meet Wheeling Symphony Orchestra’s Music Director Candidate, Timothy Hankewich, who will conduct the WSO’s opening Masterwork’s concert, Tchaikovsky’s Pathetique.  At noon, WSO’s woodwind quintet will play, featuring musicians Tom Godfrey (flute), Robert Driscoll Jr. (oboe), Roi Mezare (clarinet), Linda Morton Fisher (bassoon), and Emily Shelley (horn)

“As the Wheeling Symphony emphasizes its commitment to embracing our community, this WSO on the Go event and concert couldn’t be more perfect,” said Bryan Braunlich, General Manager of the WSO.  “We are thrilled that our friends at The Health Plan saw this event as a collaborative way to engage and connect in our downtown community by hosting these incredible food trucks and space for a free lunchtime concert.  Plus, we are so happy that people will get to meet with Tim Hankewich, who also conducted the opening Pops concert in September.  It is going to be a wonderful midday, midweek break, so I hope everyone comes out and joins us.”

In 2016, Wheeling Symphony Orchestra on the GO was established to increase the visibility of and gain new audiences for Wheeling Symphony concerts with ensemble performances in interesting locations throughout our region.  Through this program, the Wheeling Symphony has been able to showcase the versatility of the talented musicians in the Orchestra throughout the Ohio Valley.  Because of the generous support of our sponsors and donors, including our WSO on the GO title sponsor McKinley Carter Wealth Services, all concerts will be free to the public to entice and encourage new audiences to become long-time supporters.
